WASH

The film is intentionally multidisciplinary combining various film approaches to appeal to different age groups and we have used for targeted health messages e.g. school children to demonstrate the importance of WASH for the control of waterborne diseases such as bilharzia (schistosomiasis), public health professionals to highlight the importance of taking behavioural aspects into account for disease control, and for development partners especially non-local partners to demonstrate the importance of context-relevant interventions co-produced with affected populations/end users.

This second edition of the WASH-NTD toolkit includes revisions and new tools based on experiences of using the toolkit in more than 20 countries.

This video explores the role that contaminated water plays in the transmission of schistosomiasis. People get infected when they come into contact with water infested with parasitic worms that cause schistosomiasis. This happens while performing routine activities such as agriculture, domestic chores and recreation.
