Many healthcare workers and community members have limited knowledge and / or understanding of Female Genital Schistosomiasis and so many women and girls do not receive adequate / appropriate management for it. This guide has been developed by the COUNTDOWN consortium of the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine, a seven-year multi-disciplinary implementation research consortium aimed at conducting health systems strengthening activities to support the equitable management and control of Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs); in collaboration with the national NTD programme of the Ministry of Health Liberia. This guide is designed to assist primary healthcare workers to diagnose, treat, and support women and girls with Female Genital Schistosomiasis (FGS).
