The International High-Level Panel on Water Investments for Africa released its High-Level Report, Africa’s Rising Investment Tide, during an official side event at the UN 2023 Water Conference, New York, on Wednesday 22nd March 2023 at the United Nations Headquarters in New York. The Conference is the first United Nations conference on water issues since 1977.
Led by the African Union Commission in collaboration with AUDA-NEPAD and the Co-Chairs of the High-Level Panel; Senegal, Netherlands, Namibia, and Global Water Partnership Africa, the High-Level Panel’s Report outlines actionable pathways for countries to mobilise at least US$30 billion annually by 2030, for implementing the AIP and closing the existing water investment gap in Africa, which is estimated at US$ 11-19bn/year. The Report will inform the Africa Water Investment Action Plan that will be developed for launch during the 78th UN General Assembly in September 2023.
