NTD NGO Network | Schistosomiasis (SCH) and Soil-Transmitted Helminth (STH) Disease-Specific Group Virtual Meeting

The Schistosomiasis (SCH) and Soil-Transmitted Helminths (STH) Disease-Specific Group of the NNN is convening a meeting to present & discuss current SCH and STH news, updates and needs in the context of the NNN conference theme "Enabling a Paradigm Shift to a country-led response to deliver the NTD Road Map".

The first part of the NNN SCH-STH Disease-Specific group meeting will cover key updates on SCH and STH from the World Health Organization, the Global Schistosomiasis Alliance (GSA) and the STH Coalition. The second half will look at examples from endemic countries on developing national SCH and STH strategic action plans and on the integration of these into the national NTD Master Plans.

With the new WHO Roadmap’s strong focus on measuring progress and endemic countries planning their NTD Master Plans for the next 5 years this meeting of the NNN SCH-STH Disease Specific group will look at country approaches to designing NTD workplans to meet targets for SCH and STH.

Presentations will highlight experiences of (i) how national NTD programmes are developing & integrating SCH and STH strategies into the NTD Master plans? (ii) How progress will be monitored, evaluated, and reported? And (iii) what challenges and/or lessons learnt have been identified during the planning process?

The meeting will enable discussions on SCH-STH integration into national NTD master plans and will identify priority challenges for the SCH & STH communities to address through the coalitions and WHO groups.

Le groupe spécifique sur la schistosomiase (SCH) et les géo-helminthes (STH) du NNN organise une réunion pour présenter et discuter des nouvelles, des mises à jour et des besoins actuels en matière de SCH et de STH. La première partie de la réunion couvrira les principales mises à jour sur les SCH et STH de l'Organisation mondiale de la santé, de l'Alliance mondiale contre la schistosomiase (GSA) et de la Coalition STH. La seconde partie de la réunion sera consacrée à des expériences de pays endémiques en matière de développement de plans d'action stratégiques nationaux pour les SCH et les STH et à l'intégration de ces plans dans les plans nationaux pour les MTN.
